Need some quick help on a Savage 330 I just bought. If you are very familar with these shotguns I need to know:
1. Does the buttstock come off by removing the two screws in the top of the tang to the rear?
2. Should both barrel sets be numbered to the frame?
3. Are the safeties on these shotguns pretty straight forward to work on?
Here is the reason for my questions.
The safety allows one barrel to fire when the gun is on safe, need to remove the safety to get the other to fire. Doesn't matter if the upper or lower barrel is set to fire first. My first thought is that it is slightly worn or out of alignment and just needs to be tightened up.
The 12 ga. barrel set is numbered to the frame, the 20 ga. set is not (no numbers at all and doesn't look like there ever was any). They both lock up tight but the 20 ga set seems quite a bit stiffer when you open and close it. Could just need some cleaning but thought I would check.
I would like to get a copy of manual to take down directions and schematics. Anyone have any ideas?
Got into the gun for $650.00 including my dealers charge for receiving it. The 12ga is cylinder bore in both barrels which is fine cause I was gonna use it for skeet. the 20 ga set is IC and Mod making it good upland bird or grouse gun. Might have Carleson put tubes in the 12ga as they can do it for $140 & this includes 3 tubes of my choice. Gun is easily 98%+....
Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated.
Thanks much...
