Howdy All
I just got back from visiting my family in Indiana last night. While there I learned that a Big cat had been seen a lot around the area and the Indiana DNR had even took pictures and all of their foot prints in my uncles front yard, As well as told him that it was a panther that made them (he already know that as he has seen it a couple of times already).
Anyway one night I was standing in my uncles drive way having a smoke about 3 AM when I seen what at first I thought was a tree stump in his front yard. Now I was still half asleep and did not even think about that cat that has been running around there the last few years. Anyway the next morning while talking to my uncle I noticed that no tree stump was in his yard. I said to him "Hey where the hell did that stump go" he said what stump lol. Well long story short we concluded that it was that cat that I seen and chances are I am a very lucky person.
There I was in bare feet with just shorts on with a large cat within 50 feet of me and it must have been watching me for at least 15 min. It never moved or made one sound while I was standing there watching the stars and such. From what I can remember it looked about 3 feet tall and maybe 2 feet wide. I have seen countless deer and every other critter out in the woods and it was nothing that I could think of but that cat. If it was a deer I would have easily of seen it as so. If it was something like a dog again chances are I would have seen it as such. A coyote (many around there) I am sure again I would have seen that and chances are any other animal would have run off anyway when I walked out there. But this thing just set there and watched me for at least 15 min.
The only other critter that I could say that it could have been would be a black bear. Now DNR says none are around there (officially they say the same about the cats but they admit to the locals that they are there)
My uncle says that 2 different bears have been seen by locals around the area this year. The reason they are saying 2 different ones is because they are a little different in color and size.
Anyway if your around Greene county Indiana and see what you think is a Big cat chances are that is just what you seen.
