Finally doing the right thing.

Finally, the department of Homeland Security is going after the employers of illegial alians.  They should have been doing this since Reagon gave the illegials amnesty back in the 80s.  If they had been doing this we would not be in the mess we are in now.  If the jobs dry up, the illegials should go home.  Now we need to tighten up the wellfare system so when they loose their jobs they can't sit and draw unemployment, or wellfare.  We need to make sure they leave the country.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

It also looks like ICE has stepped up border enforcement and more roundups.  It's about (censored word) time.

'Local pallet mill just lost 1/3 of its work force to that bust.  What a shame!  'Suppose they'll have to actually hire locals?

Sourdough, you hit the problem right square on the chin. Go after the employer. When the profit incentive is eliminated the problem will resolve.

A recent case locally resulted in 63 ileagals being rounded up. The employer paid $119,000 in fines. Wow, that must have really hurt him. His weekly electric bill is probably more than that. I could come up with that much and not even feel it.

Hard time at one of our Federal Resorts might get some attention. Jail the employer not the worker.

Why not jail both?

Both are breaking the law.
They may talk of a "New Order" in the  world, but what they have in mind is only a revival of the oldest and worst tyranny.   No liberty, no religion, no hope.   It is an unholy alliance of power and pelf to dominate and to enslave the human race.

:D Shorty.  Two years ago while visting Waynesboro I had a problem with four illegals in a Quick stop while getting gas.  I speak "some" spanish, and could understand what they were saying while they talking about shoplifting some items.  As I was paying,  I told the lady to call the police and stuck around until they arrived.  I was told then, and by several other people who live in the area that the illegals were thick in that area.  Hershey candy and Westinghouse hires a bunch of them, and a lot were working in construction.

It is common to see lots of mexicans in my area, but I was shocked to see so many there.  Several of the eating establishments used them for bus boys or dishwashers.  Matter of fact, on individual told me the highschool kids had a hard time finding a part time job because they were taken by the illegals.

And, the four illegals at the station were questioned by the police and some guy that spoke less spanish than I do. They paid for the items, loaded into an old cargo van and drove off.  The cop said they had no provisions to deal with illegals so they just release them.

It's a waste of time and money jailing the ileagals. Once they realize they can't find jobs and they get sent back home, there's no reason for them to come back. It's cheaper to send them home than to jail them.

When I say go after the employer, I mean the CEO and every last person in the Chain of Command. I would include the entire BoD, see how long it takes to make a point. Slap the whole kit n' kaboodle in an "eight by ten" for two or three years. Present law allows for some really severe puishment if you hire ileagles. We have the authority, we simply need the resolve.

Building walls and fences kind of smacks of Berlin. Tossing people in prison just for crossing a border reminds me of the former Soviet Empire. Working people like slaves in substandard conditions and with substandard pay reminds me of the shameful history of ..............(Name your own country).

I do support work visas, with some provisios. The employer is the responsible party for covering emergency medical care. The employer is also responsible for helping cover the cost of keeping track of his
employees.

Looking back on just the last 20,000 or so years of Human history, we well note that H. Sapiens is a migratory animal. I work/derive my income from a number of places around the World. I get my visas, pay my fees and move on. Working off the old home turf ain't a new revelation. People have always moved around to survive and improve conditions for themselves and their offspring.

International Tourism and World Trade are the two stabilising factors in International Relations.

In establishing trade and tourism, some ground rules are in order. Don't hire ileagal workers, do punish your own people and set an example.

Be see'n ya

I agree--jailing illegals is a waste of money.  Shoot the bastards.

Read an article in the paper this morning about how it is part of the mexician culture to raise the children to come to americia and make money and send back to the village in Mexico.  Many women come across the border to have their babies so later the children will have an easier time coming to Americia to make money for the village.  The article reported that Vacinte Fox wholeheartedly supported this thinking and action.  This is an Associated Press article so I cannot bring it up on line and copy it.  The Daily News Miner does not put back page articles on their web site.
