The View of Immigration from a Mexican-American
« on: April 21, 2006, 05:53:50 PM »
 I would like to meet this man and shake his hand, he thinks like I do. This is from a Hispanic who lives in Texas.  He's had a column in the
Fort Worth Star Telegram and as you can see, expresses himself very
well.

ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL

I can almost assure you that everyone who is a true American was
sickened when you saw multitudes of protesters carrying Mexican flags
protesting the new Immigration Reform Bill in the Senate. This display
of Mexican flags should give you a heads up on where these protesters
allegiance lies their hearts are in Mexico and their bellies are in the
United States.

As an American of Mexican Heritage I want to set the record
straight, American Hispanics are not all thrilled with illegal
immigration.  I, for more than 20 years, tried desperately to bring
this national debacle to the attention of the American people.  I had
the privilege of writing for several newspapers, appeared on national
and local TV and radio programs, and was asked by many political
groups  to address this serious problem affecting my former community
(north  Fort Worth), city, state, and our country.  Many will question how I  can speak on this subject with some authority.  My simple answer is: I
lived with the problem!  Trust me, it was no
picnic.

Never in my life (I'm 68) had I witnessed the lawlessness, the
deterioration of my community, and the black market criminal
underground activities attributed to the influx of illegal immigrants.

To add injury to insult, politicians soon caved in to the many
demands of illegal immigrants. Notably: bilingual education, bilingual
ballots, welfare aid, free medical care, etc. Through all this national
disgrace allowed by our politicians, have you all noticed that no one
ever blames the useless, corrupt, and disgraceful government of Mexico?
In contrast, they lambaste and criticize our country.  How does that grab you?

When I addressed the dangers of our porous border between Mexico
and the United States, and the lax security of our nation, no one paid
attention. As I observed the situation, the problem was perceived to be
between American Hispanic communities and illegal immigrants. White
Americans it seemed assumed that the problem was not theirs to deal
with.  In other words they were, asleep at the wheel.  However, 9-11
soon woke them up. Lets be honest with each other here, white Americans vote in far larger numbers than                                      Hispanics do. And most politicians (Democrats and Republicans) in our
city, state, and federal governments are white.  Thus, who is more
suited to fix this national disaster?  I'm sure most of you know what
the answer is. In summation, I'm pleading with white American voters to join me    in sending our politicians (Democrats and Republicans) a strong message that we will not tolerate illegal immigrants telling us how to make government policy that will make it easier for them to break our laws.

Hope you will join me in this endeavor in our upcoming elections.

   James H. Reza
   4204 Grand Lake
   Lake Worth, Texas 76135
   Phone: 817-237-6287 (H) / Cell 817-454-3316

Please pass this on...it just might get to the other Veterans and  VFW,
American Legions and to those that truly believe that we will not give
   our country away !

I agree totally.  Just for the record, I'm not a bigot.....I HATE EVERYONE EQUALLY. My ancestors came to this country too. BUT THEY PAID THEIR DUES!! They learned the language, history and culture and applied for entry and citizenship. They didnt climb a damn fence in the middle of the night like a common criminal. I understand wanting a better life. Great, come to the U.S., but do it right. I'm sick and tired of the US dumbing down everything in the name of political correctness. If I wanted to live in a third world country I would move there.  Isn't any different when a US company (read Big 3) takes a job away from the US and moves it to some 3rd world country. Then they expect to bring the products back in here and sell them to the very people they laid off..No wonder Ford and GM are on the verge of bankruptcy...Mexico must be a killer market for $45k pickups.......       Maybe thats why they keep taking our jobs and freebies.........to make the payments??

Coming into this country illegially is wrong.  Yet I would not have such a problem with someone who after coming here learned the language, accepted our views, blended into our culture (at least attempted to).  But when they refuse to learn english, or refuse to speak it.  Then get balligerant when you attempt to talk to them in english.  Fly the mexician flag, and let the world know they are mexician, not americian.

This country is under siegue.  They are trying to move into the southwestern states in such volumnes that they will outnumber the americians.  Then they are going to demand to vote.  They will elect their officials that is symphotic to their cause.  Then one day they are going to declare they are mexician, that the state they are living in is their home, and they will demand to be returned to mexico.  Then a general uprising will occure, a civil war.  With southern California, Arizonia, New Mexico, and Texas as the prize.  I have met many mexician people through the years that feel that since we stole those states from the mexician government, they have every right to take them back.  With force if neccessiary.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

I am an American of Mexican ancestry.  I live in Texas.

My family lived and died on this land in peace and during war for generations before it was either the Republic of Texas, or the State of Texas.

I am not a Mexican-American.  I am not a German-American.  I am an American.  I speak english.  I have served honorably in the forces which defend this country and its way of life.  I own property.  I pay my taxes, I vote, and I am gainfully and legally employed.

These hoards of Illegal immigrants are criminals and should be treated as such.

The 14th Amendment was never intended to convey citizenship as a reward upon the offspring of criminals simply because they were born while their parent was in this country commiting a federal crime.

All illegal immigrants should be rounded up and deported.

If these so called "anchor babies" have not been naturalized, then they are in the same class of criminals as are their parents and they should be deported right along with them.

We have a country of immigrants, but legal immigrants. When we ignore our borders and allow millions to enter our nation illegally, we cheapen our birthright and our invaluable American citizenship. We have always provided a path to citizenship for those willing to follow the rules. We have quotas for a reason. Quotas insure fairness and true diversity so that no one group comes to dominate our culture.

Today’s illegal immigrants come here for our money and whatever entitlements they can obtain. They send so much money back to Latin America that Mexico’s second-largest source of income after its oil exports is illegals’ money flowing back across our border. No wonder President Vincente Fox of Mexico has no sincere desire to aid the United States with border control.

Our politicians and business leaders have done nothing to stem the illegal flow. They fear losing power and profits, so they sell our citizens out in favor of their personal power.

If we do not gain control of our borders and find ways to deal with illegals, we will see the face of our nation changed forever, and we will neither recognize nor like the consequences that will surely ensue due to our inattention.

Not to sound like a broken record, but if you object to the way immigration is being handled, then write your congressman/senator and express your views.  In my opinion, if you refuse to stand tall you have no right to complain when they are given amnesty and/or take over your community.  :x  :x  :x  :x  :x

This subject is a tough nut to crack since we are a nation of immigrants.  The key however is as someone else mentioned, we are a nation of "legal" immigrants.  I truly understand someone wanting a better life for themselves and their family, that's what our ancestors wanted too.  The difference is that our ancestors understood that in order to attain that better life they had to follow the rules and become "Americans".  That meant they had to pay taxes that support our schools and infrastructure, had to serve in the military when required, and had to assimilate into our society.

I lived in Southern Arizona for many years and find most of the Hispanic community to be honest, hardworking, responsible, deeply religious, and family oriented.  One of the major problems with illegal immigration however is that our social services networks are being overwhelmed.  All but two of the many Urgent Care Centers that used to exist in Tucson have closed because they are being overrun by either illegals seeking care or by the scores of uninsured who are citizens.  The Tucson hospital emergency rooms are packed with the same group of people seeking care.  On one weekday afternoon last May the wait at one local hospital emergency room was in excess of six hours; there were no empty chairs in the waiting room.

Likewise, our schools in areas where there are high numbers of illegals are being stretched beyond their capacity.  The children of illegals attend our schools but their parents contribute nothing financially to fund their education.  Our welfare system pays out countless dollars to aid the families of illegals and the bills are paid by U.S. citizens.  A couple of years back there was a report on one of the television programs like "60 Minutes" or "Dateline" about a small town Post Office in Southeastern Arizona.  The town (can't remember it's name) is within 15 or 20 miles of the border and has an official population of about 400 residents.  The Post Office has approximately 1500 Post Office Boxes because of the demand from Mexican citizens who want a U.S Post Office Box.  At the time of this report, the owner of a legitmate U.S. Post Office Box could apply for welfare and legally receive it even though they were not a citizen.  This may have changed by now, but guess who funded all those welfare payments; legal U.S. citizens who paid taxes.

So the argument that the illegals take jobs that Americans don't want and that this makes the goods and services we buy more affordable is only partly true.  The cost of all the social services provided to illegals must be added to the equation.  Once that is done the bottom line looks significantly different.  If the current trend continues there will be an increasing number of illegal recipients of these social services and a shrinking pool of legal citizens paying for those services.  We need to spend whatever is necessary to effectively guard our borders and slow illegal immigration.

So..., is an honest, hardworking, responsible, deeply religious, and family oriented illegal immigrant less of a criminal?

I don't think so.

:x I have been standing on this soap box for longer than I care to remember.  I am of the opinion, like most Americans, that legal immigration is necessary for this country to progress, but like most, I am deeply opposed to illegal immigrants, I don't care where they come from.

At this point, we have so many illegals in the country that it will be near impossible to deport them.  To correct the problem, Homeland Security should start investigating the busness owners that hire the illegals and lock them up for a few years. After a few go to jail, the rest will stop knowingly hiring illegals, and most of the illegals will go back home at their expense.

  I'm so sick of hearing the slogan "we didn't cross the border illegally, IT crossed us!"

The nineteenth century was replete with wars and other conflicts between the various colonial and mixed background powers for sovereignty of different regions of the No. American continent... YOU LOST, GET OVER IT!!!  :x

The debate has been changed from ILLEGAL ALIENS to IMMIGRATION by the left (predominetly) and other Polls, press.  Disgusting!!

In CA there was a debate and tossing out of the Gov over driver licensing. The argument was based on "safety".  Interesting, especially when you take into account the need for a drivers license here to register to vote.  Was it REALLY about "safety"?  Or was it to allow them to vote?

What is the push to grant legal status about?

This is invasion by osmosis. The end result is the question.

I dont care how long, how many, how much the cost!  The United States Government MUST seek out these people and REMOVE them from this country!!!!!!  They are ILLEGAL ALIENS!!! They ARE NOT UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS!!!  What do we have an Army, Navy, Marine Corps for but to PROTECT OUR BORDERS AND SHORES??

I also DO NOT give a rats behind who "WE" may "OFFEND".  T S!!
