25-06 Handi Rifle
« on: April 22, 2006, 02:04:47 PM »
I was just at the local gun shop and saw quite a few handi and ultra rifles in stock.  I saw the 25-06 Handi today and it is a piece I'll tell ya!  I think that would be a heck of a target rifle.  The price was a modest $219!  I was wondering how many people think this is a good price!
When an Army captain asked him for the direction of the line of retreat, Col Puller called his Tank Commander, gave them the Army position, and ordered: "If they start to pull back from that line, even one foot, I want you to open fire on them."
Turning to the captain, he replied "Does that answer your question?
We're here to fight."

That's not too bad a price, you can get it for less at Walmart IF their supplier has it in stock. If that's a new rifle, I'd give my business to the local guy for that little difference.

Thanks, your right I will go through the local shop for that amount difference.  How is the 25-06 on Deer? I've never shot it but I've heard it is nice.  Let me know if you  know anything.

I dont have a 25-06 in handi but do have one in a bolt action sig arms. I've killed about 25 deer with it. And a couple were bruisers, the buck in my avitar is one 215lbs and a mule deer 5x5 closer to 300lbs so they will take down deer with gusto.  My gun likes 100gr bullets the best, its shoots the 115 silverballistic tips very well also, but I have not found a 117 or heavier bullet that it will group well. Its a great deer/ varmit combo.  :D

Since you mentioned you don't handload yet, the Federal 115gr Nosler partition and Hornady 117gr BTSP factory loads both shoot good in mine.
