Load for 375win?
« on: April 22, 2006, 06:31:22 PM »
Anybody have a recipe for 260 gr cast for a lever gun? I should be recieving my mdl 94BB on monday. I think it should make a decent black/griz gun.

Thanks
Joel

I use a Lyman 375449 GC .375 bullet, sized to 0.377" and lubed with Tamarack (NRA 50-50) lube.  The lead is fairly hard, at about Bhn 18.  The powder is 32.0gr of Reloader 7 and gives 1,794fps with good accuracy.  That is case-full to the base of the seated bullet without compression.  I once used a drop tube to get 34.0gr of RL-7 in and gained about 80fps, but it was not worth the extra work.

I also use 12.5gr to 13.0gr of Red Dot with a Lee plain-base cast for plinking loads.  Haven't bothered to chrono them.
