8X56 MS to 8X57Mauser any thoughts?

Can anyone give me any help here?  I have the opportunity to purchase a Mannlicher Schoenauer 1909 carbine in awesome condition for its age.  It was 8 X 56 MS and someone rechambered to 8 X 57 Mauser do you think this is a problem.  We did take the rifle and the owner ran 5 round through it, no problems.  Brass no lumps bumps or shiny spots.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I don't know.  The only 2cents I've got about it is that I believe bore diameters varied with the older 8mm's and that there are two different diameters of bullets. Whatever you end up with for a chambering I think it will be worth it for you to find out which diameter bullet you should use.

The 8x56R has a bore diameter of .329-.220".  Accuracy with .321" bullets would be very poor.  Extraction would be something to look at too, due to the larger bolt face needed for the 8x56.

 8x56MS is a completely diffrent animal than 8x56r
