This forum is for Treasure Hunting of all kinds. Treasure is measured different to different folks and one mans Treasure may be another mans junk. No matter as it's all welcome here and can include

Coin Shooting with Metal Detector (targeting coins specifically, old and new mintage)

Relic Hunting With Metal Detector(Civilan and War related artifacts)

Cache Hunting with Metal Detector(Hoarded valubles such as jewelry,coins,heirlooms in bulk and in one spot)

Beach Hunting with Metal Detectors and Underwater Hunting with Metal Detectors and other locating systems.

Also.

Diamond Hunting

Precious and Semi Precious gemstone hunting

Vintage/Rare Bottle hunting

Antique hunting

Just to name a few and i'm sure theres some i forgot. If you are into any of these things or others then lets here about it. Once this gets rolling i would like to have daily finds, best finds, best gold and silver coin finds, Jewelery finds etc etc. Any inquries about Metal Detectors or questions on the different types of hunting i'll be happy to answer as best as i can.

I would like to ask that any users with posts that might fit better in the Gold Prospecting forum post there. Though, i leave that up to them as i am aware that many Gold Hunters utilize Metal Detectors solely in searching for nuggets.

Thanks and lets hear from you folks. Happy Hunting!

Your last paragraph  is what has me wondering. Is a detector that is used for coins also able to be used for gold nuggets? or are these different specialized detectors?

I'm going to be retiring in about 3 years or so, and though I have a old Tesoro (I bought  it to pick up roofing nails when I was getting a new roof put on when I live in NC) I have never used it to look for coins, or really anything else. It has sat on a bench for probably 12 years or more (the batteries are out of it though), but I have been thinking about giving coin hunting a try. Also I might like to shoot for nuggets in Arizona some time--might be nice to spend a winter there rather than in Missouri after I retire. I'm going to have to figure out how I'm going to be spending my time when I retire, and metal detecting seems like it might just be a nice new hobby for me. I've got a lot to learn.

Thanks;
