Pre 64 Winchester Model 70 question
« on: April 28, 2006, 04:44:52 AM »
Was in a pawn shop yesterday and a long barreled 30-06 bolt action rifle caught my eye.  Rifle did not have a factory stock and trigger guard assembly appeared new.  Pretty sure it was a model 70, but could find no visible markings saying what it was.  Barrel and action much older than rest of rifle.

Couldn't you tell a pre 64 model 70 by bolt face design?  Pre 64's bolt face fully inclosed rims of cartridges and post 64's did not.
