Clearly the Rebate is eye wash from a bunch of unethical congressmen and women who keep getting "donations" from oil company lobbyist.

Basically Congress is saying the heat is on.  And we gave oil all those tax breaks to the oil industry, gosh do you think the voters will notice.  Congressman "B" says do not worry about it, we will fix it with a little eye wash.  They are not smart enough to figure it out.  What we we'll do is give the good old taxpayer a $100 rebate.  The greedy little suckers will not catch on that we will take money out of their right pocket and put it into their left pocket.  It will not cost our pet industry a cent.  To obtain the money to finance the scheme will require the Treasury to barrow money from the bankers to be paid back with interest.  So congressman fatcat has just made the oil industry happy, the bankers happy, and those greedy little soles who cannot think beyond a hundred dollars happy. :-D

I could care less about the $100.00.  It's the rider for drilling in ANWR that's important to me.  We need to start somewhere and that is the best place I can think of.

A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

I agree on both counts. It costs $75.00 to fill the tank once, what will $100.00 do?
We need to drill in ANWR now, among other places. We of course need
a refinery or 2 & it is time for the majority to overrule the limp wristed
tree huggers, I am sick of it.

Just remember, it is the Dumbycrats and Rhinos who have stood in the way of drilling in ANWAR.  Who are the real culprits?  The stupid sobs that elect these pieces of excrement.

They won't let us drill off the coast of Florida fearing a blowout.  Yet we have some of the most qualified and expert drillers in the world.  We also have programs in place that require safeguards to prevent or minimise spills.  Now CUBA is going to start drilling in the srtaits between Cuba and Florida.  If they have a blowout they don't have the money to shut it down, let alone cleanup.  And Florida will be coated, look how the Gulf stream runs.  Florida, Georgia, the Carolinas, and all the eastern seabord will be in the path.

Dave Shooter:  Yes I have a Ruger 350, and two .338s.  I carry one of them while floating the rivers in a raft.  But I have moved up to a Weatherby 338-378 while in the mountains, more range.

This country definately needs new refineries, but the coastal states don't want them in their back yard.  So what are we going to do?  We need to finish the railroad to Alaska.  We have the oil and refineries could be built here with no problem.  We just need a way to get it to the lower 48.  A rail connection would be perfect.  Easier to ship by rail than by Tanker ship.  In the event of a train wreck only damaged rail cars would leak.  A rail car holds a lot less than a ship, and usually most cars are not damaged enough to leak.  And it's a lot easier to clean it up off the ground than out of the ocean.  Plus we could ship lots of other things to the lower 48.  Lumber, gravel, ore (iron, copper, lead, zinc) just to mention a few.  And stuff could be shipped to us at a lower cost.  Travel would be easier, expecially for those that are afraid of flying.
