.32 Barrel length?

I have the hots for a .32 and am looking at several different rifles. My question is this. Some of the rifles have around a 28 inch barrel. How does this stack up against the long barreled guns? What do I loose in a squrrel rifle, except sight plane?

   Do any of you hunt squrrel with a large bore, .45 or .50? I have shot one with my .50 before, but I can't imagine using it all the time?

FWIW, I decided to try just throttling back a TC .45cal Flintlock for squirrels and glad I did...I didn't need another darn caliber, particularly one that is so limited and specialized as a tiny .32cal...with the TC .45cal using just 30-40grns Goex 3F, it will shoot 1" aim point stickers at 25yds all day...perfect for squirrels/rabbits.

The one I use is a 32" x 1:66" as I do like the longer barrel for the extra weight and sighting radius, but actually the 1:48" twist is ideally suited to the .40 & .45cal...it's almost like the round ball twist for those smaller calibers, and they're very accurate...ie: when TC introduced their .40cal Cleland Match target rifle a few years ago, it's a 1:48" twist.
