The .35 Whelen acc barrel is now available from H&R, $85 plus $15 fitting and $10 shipping. It's a 22" barrel w/1:16" twist.

Tim,

Is that $15 fitting fee tacked on to every barrel, or is it just once when they receive the frame?  I.e. if I send in my NEF for a rifle barrel and shotgun barrel, would the $15 cover both barrels or would it be $30 (and $45 if I get three barrels.....)  If it is the later then that is bogus and they should just say it cost $100 plus shipping to get a standard barrel.

It would be nice if they put open sights on all of the rifle barrels, instead of charging an extra $47.  The .30-30 and .22 Hornet barrels come with sights for the same price as the others without them.  Aargh!

The fitting fee is per barrel, but IIRC, they cut shipping when multiple barrels are ordered, it's been a while since I ordered 2 barrels, but I think they charged me $15 shipping for 2 barrels, don't remember for sure, tho.

Tim,

I may have to get me one of those Whelens.  It ought to make a dandy cast bullet gun!

Will that twist rate work for 250 gr. hornady RN and SP bullets.

Most sources I've read say it will work for the RN, but maybe not for the spitzer, I haven't shot mine yet to find out for sure.

Has anyone sent in for a whelen yet?

As much as I have been wanting this caliber, I should have ordered already.  But, I have barely touched my guns this year so Im probably going to wait till I get back into the activity again.  Probably towards the end of summer and into the fall.

I still need to shoot my latest gun/scope so I should do that first, then move on to something else.

If they have, they haven't posted about it.
