Any favorite hand loads for the 8 mm Mauser
« on: May 01, 2006, 11:23:52 AM »
Does anyone have handloads for the 8 MM Mauser that you would want to share.  I am going to load for a Mannlicher Schoenaurer 1909 carbine.

Thanks,

I've used the 175 grain Sierra spitzer and Winchester 748 powder
with good results.
Also, H-380 and a Speer 200 grain spitzer has done well for me.
I won't quote any specific amounts here, but rather would
suggest you consult some of the loading manuals, or look at
some of the load data the powder companies have on line.

Take a look at the Hornady loads. They are higher preasure than a lot of the North American loads. I like using Win 748, IMR4064, and Varget for loads using 195, 170, and 150g Hornady bullets. My 195's are travelling over 2500 fps, the 170's are 2730, and the 150's are over 2800 fps. My loads are accurate and show no sign of pessure.

I'll have a report in a week or two after I get a chance to head off to the range for some testing with several powders and Hdy 170 grs in my Yugo 24/47.
