RSR .270
« on: May 04, 2006, 03:24:33 PM »
Received the RSR .270 today from The Gunsource, it doesn't have iron sights or a straight stock, it's a red/gray laminated monte carlo with a scope base, emailed them to see if they sent the wrong gun, whata disappointment. :?

The 22 Hornet is the only one I've seen with the straight stock on it,I've had 3 of them,22 Hornet,243 with montecarlo stock, and the 270 with a montecarlo also. Digger

While the Red/Gray Monte's are nice, I see your disappointment expecting the open sights and nice straight grips. Still, for the price thats a great deal :agree:

Yes, it is nice, looks pretty much like this one, but it's not checkered...

Josh from The Gunsource called me yesterday and told me he was sorry the rifle I got wasn't as stated on their web site, the iron sighted .270 barrel and straight stock combo is no longer available, he said if he found one, he'd let me know. He refunded me the $20 shipping charge as a good will gesture which I thought was nice.

quick'

i love the .270 Win.   and although i'm sure you had your reasons, i can't imagine looking for an open-sighted .270 that would not also allow me to put a scope on it.   with the Handi's they seem to be mutually exclusive.

all the reading and computer work i've done with the .270 Win' show me that it's a 'magnum' in performance, even if the name isn't there!   putting open-sights-only on a .270 is kind of like putting a leather harness on a Dodge Charger R/T with a 440' in it!    it's almost as bad as taking a television set on your honeymoon!

i hope you find contentment with your new rifle.

take care,

ss'

Actually, I'll find contentment when the barrel sells on ebay, I already have three .270s! That's where the stock and barrel were going in the first place unless Cookieman wanted em. May keep the stock set tho, it's real purtty!!

Sorry Tim,  I also would like the iron sighted, straight stocked model.  Heading up north in the next couple weeks and I may find one up there.  One shop still had one when I spoke with him a few weeks back.  Another shop was still waiting on stock to come in.  So we'll see.
