PayPal... from the horse's mouth.
« on: May 06, 2006, 04:03:39 PM »
I copied the following from another forum, thought it might be of some interest here.   --- Ian

Guess a lot of you guys know me but for those who don't, I'm Lynn Halstead. I operated the casting company "Dry Creek Bullet Works, Inc". We had customers who didn't want to use pay pal claiming they were anti gun. Finally I learned first hand the customer is always right. My account was froze and I was allowed only to withdraw my funds. I could pay no one or accept payment from anyone. Why????????? I sold bullets. I know they sell them on EBAY. Because of a discussion that came up today I contacted pay pal. Below is the results...just so you would know............Creeker

Here's my question to pay pal:

Form Message
customer subject: I own a lead bullet company, can I collect payments
for bullets through Pay Pal?

Here's their answer:

Thank you for contacting PayPal.

A few years ago, my brother and I decided it was time to get rid of most of the results of our hobby, which was going to auction sales and buying about anything that went cheap. To get room in our storage buildings for more important possessions, we did a lot of selling on Ebay. Many of the buyers wished to pay through Bidpay or Paypal, so we decided to get accounts with both. Paypal was the first one I attempted to set up an account with. Everything went smoothly until I printed out the policies I had to agree to. I was shocked when the first page came out numbered "Page 1 of 27". I shut the printer down, and told my brother that there was no way we wanted to do business with any outfit that required 27 pages to tell you they would not be responsible for ANYTHING. Now, with this coming to light, I'm glad we didn't share any proceeds with the blighters !
I rode with him,---------I got no complaints. ---------Cowpox

I have a pay-pal account that I have used to buy brass, bullets, dies, etc. with and never had a bit of trouble with them, but thats on the purchase side of the deal, I admit I have never been on the recieving end of a transaction using them, Its good to know their background as I may just stop using their service.    :D    JIM

Here's the link to the specific "acceptable use" policy.  Some of it is reasonable, some not.  http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p/gen/ua/use/index_frame-outside&ed=weapons
