Hi all,

I have a Henry .22 rifle with a small chip on the reciever. What would be the best way to touch this up? I love my rifle and can't stand a small imperfection.

Moose,
Can you describe to us what the receiver material is (brass?) and is it scratched or gouged? Some times all that is involved is to gently grind the area out with fine wet/dry 800 grit SiC paper/cloth and polish.

Well thats the problem, Henry rifles are cheap (the rimfires are anyway). The frame is a zinc alloy and cannot be blued like steel. So, they are painted, a dark black color, and I chipped a small amount of paint off.

I wonder if a little Gloss Black paint for model cars will do the trick?

Try using a black permenant marker like I do to recoat anadized aluminum.

I would think that black touch up paint would do it. The Henrys are I feel good guns for the money and shoot great at least my 22 mag does. I would thin the paint a tad so it flows in where you put it. Jim

Whenever I take the scope off (I know, I don't like scopes on a lever either. I just wanted to try it one time) I'll try some of the black paint.

I put a scope on my 22 mag as most center fire levers do not really need one because they are used for larger game and a peep or open sights are all that is needed as they are usually used at closer ranges. The 22 mag I put a scope on be I will be shooting at smaller targets and I figured I need the scope. I like it on my 22 Henry mag. Jim
