Wouldn't work.

They'd make it up on the increased volume from purchases before such a boycott started or on the back end when we started buying again.

There's nothing we can do to harm or influence them that does not involve a long term change in the way we consume that product.

We need alternative fuels, and they need to be reasonably inexpensive in order to ensure that we can starve the big oil companies into cooperating.

Brazil is running on 100% Ethanol.  No petroleum required.

If we had paid attention 30 years ago, we could be rid of big oil too.

They may talk of a "New Order" in the  world, but what they have in mind is only a revival of the oldest and worst tyranny.   No liberty, no religion, no hope.   It is an unholy alliance of power and pelf to dominate and to enslave the human race.

Not a good idea.  Any they don't sell to us China and India will suck up in a heart beat.  Once they sell to new customers, they would continue to sell to them.  We would take a cut and our prices would go up even more.  In fact China is courting the middleeastern countries, as well as the South Americian countries.  Trying to cut a deal for more of the gas they are currently selling to us.  Their use of gasoline has increased so rapidly the world is not ready for it.  That is one reason crude oil is selling for so much.

The thing we need to do is to get the Democrates out of bed with the Enviromentalist.  Let us drill for oil, where we know there is oil, in Americia.  We also need to build some new refineries.  The two refineries here in North Pole were built 28 years ago.  I believe they were the last refineries built in the United States.  We also need to stop using all those blends of additives that don't work, yet cause bottlenecks in the supply system.

We also need to stop screwing around with HYBREDS, they don't work.  We need to develop fuel cell technology, using hydrogen.

DRILL ANWR!!!!!!!  Garrentee, it won't hurt the Caribou!
Where is old Joe when we really need him?  Alaska Independence    Calling Illegal Immigrants "Undocumented Aliens" is like calling Drug Dealers "Unlicensed Pharmacists"
What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

:D We have an ace in the hole, but out leaders refuse to use it.  America produces more food than any other country in the world, we ship ton of food to both China amd the arab states.  They can't eat their oil, but we can produce fuel from our corn.  The price of oil is set by Saudi Ariba, if we set the price of a bushel of corn at the same price they set for a barrel of oil what do you think will happen?  It may take a few weeks, but once their ole belly button starts rubbing on their backbone they will give in and reduce the price.

If they refuse to reduce the prices, we stop shipment of food and start converting our corn to fuel.  With our current US production we could blend and reserve what we have for many years.

THe one problem with alcohol is that unless you have a NEW vehicle your screwed! Those of us that have older vehicles mine is a 92 I just got and before that a 89 hate the alcohol 10% blends. The crap is harder on your engine and not as efficient as 100% gas so a person is not gaining anything by using it. Of course the Gov wants all the old cars off the road they prove that by paying the junk car dealers to crush all the older cars they get in.   So far I have been able to find gas stations that do not have the alcohol blends or if they do they are only using one grade of the reg as a alcohol blend but from what I hear those days are coming to a end and all gas sold will have the 10% blend. Not completely sure on that, but that is what I have heard soon all gas will be blended with alcohol. Now I will not even mind that if they come up with an additive that will make it run more like 100% gas and it will not harm your engine. That is a other thing I have heard since the alcohol gas runs hotter it screws up your engine after a time.
Said I never had much use for one, never said I didn't know how to use it.

I think most of the stories one hears about blends are only old wives tales. Those parts that proved to be incompatable with the blends have been redesigned.
All that I have heard is positive and many of the states in the mid-west have been using these alternatives for a number of years.

The Arabs don't set the price of oil and we don't set the price of corn.  The commodities futures market does it.  And the idea that older cars won't run on blended fuel is crap.

What is not crap is that blended fuels will produce worse gas mileage.  It's simple physics; alcohol has less energy than gasoline.  My experience is that a 10 % alcohol content produces about a 10 % reduction in gas mileage.

I've been told and I think it was on this site awhile back that the Reagan administration butted heads with the petroleum industry really bad. I don't why this happed (if it even did). When they butted heads the petroleum industry said they would never build a new refinery in this county. To my knowledge they haven't. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this? Thanks, NYH!

William I know for a fact as magooch said that vehicles do not run as well on the blends and get worse gas milage I see it every time I have used it. Common sense also tells  me that a engine that is not running as well and is working harder to get the job done is a situation that cannot be as good for the engine than using the fuel it was designed for. My 89 Jimmy ran so bad on alcohol blends that it was like you disconected two plugs.  :x

Magooch what I should have said is yea older engines will run on the crap but that is how they run like crap. At least my 89 Jimmy did not like it. It ran terrible and spit and sputtered and ran like it was missing, regular gas cleared it right up. I have not tried it in my 92 Blazer yet as long as I can get gas with out the alcohol I will buy the gas with out it.  Gas here (WI)  now is about $2.87 a gallon I could buy gas over in MN for $2.67 a gallon at one station but why bother if it does not get as good or better gas milage. That is like throwing money away and still paying absurd prices for gas.

:D I don't run gasoline, so I have no input on mileage, but I have run several tanks of Willie's Bio-Diesel.  Some folks say it doesn't do well in their trucks, but I have had good results with it.  I run a 05, F250 Crewcab, FX4, running the bio around town I get about 14.9 mpg.  With regular diesel I get about 15.2.  On the highway I get about 23 with both.  I haven't noticed any loss of power, but I have not pulled a big trailer while using the bio.

I need to fill up, so order a supersize on your fried taters.........the smell of the bio runnig does remind me of french frys.
