Ross bows
« on: May 09, 2006, 12:55:13 AM »
Hi,have any of ya shot a Ross?.
I bought one a few months back, and,i believe that im in love lol.
In the last 4-5 years i have bought at least 8 dif.bows.All the bows were top end,or,so called top end.Something just wasnt rite with them. They all shot very well, better than i can.I was just not happy with them.
The Ross is ONE of the best bows out there bare none.
It even comes with   WC strings and cables!!.No its not the fastest bow out there, but not to shabby,IBO308.It also has the string leaches and limb savers. Now,rite out of the box, after set up,i was, and still slaping arrows at 20yds.I have not hade to touch anything again after original set up.
It is,in my honest openion the best bang for the buck bow out there.
everything about the bow is first class. They are not over priced, but, they are not cheap eather,$630.00 in my area.Try one out guys and gals you just may, like me,found the bow for you!!!.
I am NOT a sales man, or have anything to do with any shop, or bow company.I just need to let yas know that there is a few more bows out there, that warrent your attention.pan.

Panman,

I've been looking into different bows lately since my current is a 1997 model Alpine.  I have shot this bow so much that I can literally pick it up and shoot 2-3" groups at 30 yards.  But with everything that has been coming out lately I'm getting the "bug" for a new bow.  I like the Matthews Switchback XT, this is the first Matthews that I have liked.  I also like the Browning Illusion...probably the smoothest drawing bow I've ever seen in 25 years of shooting.

I've looked into ROSS bows and can definitely say I don't like the CR331, balance is not right for me.  The CR334 is nice, but like the 31 it's not as well balanced as others I've held.  I do like what ROSS has been coming up with and would buy one in a second if they just balanced a little different in my opinion.

Hi Oliverstory.I guess that its the reason that most people should shoot a lot of different bows, just to find out witch one is perfect for them.Have you shot the bows with stablers on them?,if not, that could account for the unbalance you discribe.
I didnt at the time try out the 37" Ross and i wish i did.The longer Ross is smoother at the shot. Its the only way i can discribe it.Eather way,im happy with mine.pan.

The archery shop I was at didn't have a CR337, so I can't comment on that model.  I have a 37" ATA bow now, so if it feels like that I would most definitely like it.  The CR331 dropped forward with out anything on the bow (bare) and to me that is no good.  The CR334 was better and drew actually very nice.  It didn't balance as well as I need for me to consider it.

I agree it's all in what feels good in your hand.  I like a mid to large wooden grip and can't stand the small or nonexistent grips I'm seeing lately.  Hoyt’s are about as small as I can stand and the Trykon is nice but like the rest…are very expensive.  But I thought $400 was a lot for mine in 1997 and this will be my 10th season with it so at $40 a year its not all that bad.  If I do get one in the near future I plan on having it at least 5 years.  I might be in the market after this season and will more than likely check a bunch out this fall and buy one after the year is over and hopefully get a deal.   I’m looking into going with carbon arrow and a new drop away style rest.  I’m stubborn in that I can’t see changing something that I can shoot well.
