looking for a 475 Linebaugh load
« on: May 09, 2006, 11:29:11 AM »
I am looking for a hard cast WFN bullet in the 340 to 380 grain range and would likely load it to about 1,000 fps for a nice all around carry load to use on trail rides.  I think it would be great for feral dogs, feral hogs, coyote and generally any kind of pesky varmint that needs to be ventilated.  I would bet it would be very comfortable to shoot and would be very effective with with that 475 caliber nose.  Does anyone have any thoughts on how a load like that would perform out of a 4 1/2 inch FA.  I know I could do a ton of research, but it is one of those lazy afternoons and I thought I would call on the experts here instead.  Powder suggestions are always welcome as well.

Cast Performance Bullet Co is hard to beat.

Here is a great article by my friend and fellow Shootist, John Taffin:

I contacted them and they only offer a 420 grain WFNGC.  I am looking for something lighter in the 340 to 360 range in a WFN.

Laser Cast has a 355 gr LNGC that is a good shooter in my .480 Ruger.
No such thing as too dead.
