Cannon Spotting !!
« on: May 09, 2006, 06:47:07 PM »
These cannon are on my way to Fife & Drum practice on Tuesdays.

These are at Cooches Bridge, Delaware. There was a battle there in 1777. Obviously these are not from that conflict.

This one breaks my heart every time I see it. It is in Brantwood, Maryland. The house that it is in front of is c.1791. A more likely match.

Just been wanting to do this for a while. Enjoy, MIKE

Cannons make great yard ornaments,  much much better in complete, on a carrage.

If that breaks your heart don't go to Plymouth in the UK.Last time I was there I noticed that they used cannon barrels as street bollards up around the Hoe where the Drake monument is.

PS.  Has there been a spate of cannon theft in Cooches bridge?

You might think, by the way they have them shackled. You never can tell. What is a Civil War Parrot rifle barrel worth? Apparently they want to keep them.  MIKE
