.270 Federal Fusion
« on: May 10, 2006, 02:02:14 AM »
My shooting range results using the 130 Gr. federal fusion.I fired 16 rounds and these where the last 4 shots were almost a 1" group or a hair over.Going back to the range friday to see if i can tighten the group up a little more. This was shot using my H&R Ultra Hunter in .270 Win 22" barrel.

Like a guy told me at the shooting range if it had been a deer it would have been brown on the ground :-D

:D Glad to hear our report on the Fusion. I am thinking of giving it a try in my 308 Survivor. How is the recoil on the Ultra 70? The 270 is a favorite of mine and have been considering the Ultra. Jess

Yeah would have done better but when ya got a couple guys shooting ak-47's they tend to make it hard to consentrate on a target i think i was a little out gunned on the range that day :) Well the 270 ultra's not real bad on the recoil just has a little muzzle jump but i can deal with that. mac11700 put me on to the 270 fusion and i did the silicone forearm bedding job on mine instead of the o-ring it used to have a little side to side play with the o-ring but the silicone bed did away with that. mac has a thread on doing this and i could tell the improvment right of the bat on mine .My step son got a .308 Survivor and he want's me to set the scope in on it and im going to try the federal fusion in it and see what happens :D

I'm glad the bedding job is working out for you :D I found my consistancy from a hot or cold barrel improved greatly with it with all types of shooting.... that being able to use a sling with it makes it worth it to me..

The Fusion ammo is some pretty accurate factory ammo..I've gotten good accuracy from what I've used so far....

Keep us posted :toast:

oooooooh Yeah thanks you for the silicone bedding tip mac i could tell the difference when it took all the sloppy play out of the forearm hehehe as far as the grouping goes im gonna try to go back friday and see if i can tighten the group up a little if anything i need to move the group up a little closer to the top of the dimond and maybe there want be anybody at the shooting range with a bigger gun than me  :) I think im going to set up on the 50 yard target and set it about 1" high and i should be set to go.

Then i got another project im going to send the reciever and forearm back to the factory and have the 45/70 fitted hopefully i can get them to exchange the open sights for the scope rail and hammer spur.

Mac11700,

How about writing up and adding the silicon bedding tip to the FAQs?  I for one would like to know what you did.

Has anyone seen the 270 Federal Fusion Bullets availible for reloading yet?
I know the .308's have been in the past, but can't find them at Midway as of late.

Those .308" Fusions were a one time thing, not many were available, IIRC they were sold out the first day. :(   I'm hoping they'll all become available sooner or later, it would be nice!!
