K31 Safety?
« on: May 10, 2006, 06:16:52 PM »
I've had this Swiss K31 for years, and today I began to play with it.
Can someone explain to me how to work the safety?
I put a shell in the mag and it automaticly is ready to fire.
I'm not in VietNam anymore,so get someone else to walk point.('69-'70)

The ring at the rear of the action is pulled and turned to put the rifle into safety position.

Just pull back on the ring and turn it 90 degrees to the 3 oclock position and it is on safe.

Not very convenient but it works.  I guess I like it better than the knob on the Jap rifles.  I saw on another site where a guy had a homemade slide safety like a Rem 700.  It would be much quicker for hunting.

I also saw that.

I also saw that home built safety but I'm not sure I would want to rely on something I built to insure the safety of my friends or myself. If a gun smith approved it and made it for me I might do it though, as he would want it to be perfect to protect himself from a law suit.
