In a nutshell, the CDL has a trimmed down stock basically identical to those on the Mtn. Rifles and current models all use the Simms Recoil pad. The barrel contour on them is closer to that on the BDL than on the Mtn. Rifle tho. Barrel lengths are 24" for standard chamberings and 26" for Magnums in the CDL vs. usually 22" and 24" in the BDL.

Actions are the same.

Looks are a very personal matter but I prefer the looks of the CDL to the BDL but then I like the LSS Mtn. Rifle even more.

thanks for taking the time to reply.... :)

I have a .223 VLS which I enjoy a great deal.....and I like the matte blueing and the laminated stock.....but I also like the cheek rest and I have the sneeking suspicion that the CDL doesn't come with one, though the BDL does....that might make the difference......like the longer barrel though....

most of my use for this rifle will be white tail.....but there may be the moment where the elk/moose picture becomes clearer in the future....which is why the curiousity in the .300 win, or potentially the .300 ultra mag........30-06 would probably do ok with them, but if I do make the decision based on flexibility to handle the larger animal, the .300 versitility with loads and bullets might be the more prudent choice....any thoughts on that one??....I appreciate the opinions you bring on your site, so thought I might ask... :)

Pretty sure the CDL does have a cheek rest but no MonteCarlo.

If the .30-06 won't do it you don't need more bullet speed you need a larger diameter bullet. I'd hunt anything with the '06 I'd hunt with a .308" bullet.
