Are there any companies that make carbide dies for loading straight rifle cartridges like the 45-70? I love the ease of loading my pistol calibers - why can't they do the same for rifle ones? I don't have a 45-70, I'm just wondering.

Most of the straight walled rifle cartriges are not really straight walled. They have a slight taper. Full length carbide dies would be exensive to make and the market just wouldnt support it. Technically you could make bottleneck carbide dies just the same. But the cost would scare you. KN

I had a set of carbide dies for my 7mmBR when I had that in and XP-100. They were Bonanza Bench Rest dies, and it was the easiest loading I have ever done. I'm looking into getting some of these for my .308, but cost is very prohibitive. If you can afford them you'll never look back.

I actually have a 30-06 custom hollywood carbide sizer die, and you still need to lube the cases but not to the extent that a steel die requires. The lee carbide sizer that I have for 30 carbine, also recommends the lubing of cases and I do lightly lube them also.
I'm not sure that carbide dies would be the answer for other types of cases as they are for straight walled shorter length pistol rounds.
