ยท I did a little price checking and the Vista Cx can be had for $284.00. The GPS Map60CX comes with the New high-sensitivity WAAS-capable GPS receiver by SiRF . It can be had for around $359.00. I like the old Garmin Legend, and the new Legend and Vista Cx are better yet. I felt the downside to the old Vista was that the Electronic Compass + Barometric Altimeter eats up too much battery life and I did not like trade off. The battery life on the new Legend and Vista Cx models are improve and the same.
At this point I think the Vista Cx with its features is a very good deal. The new generation SiRF III chip in the 60Cx may give you better reception in heavy canopy. Because of the removable chips I like all three models. In the last year I have noticed better reception with both my old Garmin Legend, and my GpsMap76C. Two things maybe happening. On the Satellite end there has been a couple of additions between the US and Europe. The new US satellite is transmitting at a higher output. And there have been changes to operating software.
On the gps end there has been some software up grades. There are advantages of buying a gps with a pc cable. The downside is not using it.
