.44 Super Blackhawk with a case

Hi there!

I just eyed a nice .44 mag SBH. I've seen a lot of rough Ruger handguns in my lifetime, but this one had a mirror finish, looked like it fired a cylinder full of rounds at most. The most striking thing about it was the lockwork. It's either been reworked, or it was an unusually high-quality job. The trigger had to be around 3 lbs. or less. It also comes with a glass-top wooden display case.

Did Ruger ever produce a new model SBH accessorized like this? Does that ring a bell with anyone?

Not factory.  If it were a special edition, it would be noted on the gun with some sort of roll engraving.  Even then I've never heard of any special attention being given to the lockwork.  Mirror finsh blue or stainless?  They did produce some models in a high gloss stainless but none in the SBH line.  Some very early nickle plated SA's were also produced but again, not in the SBH model. Wooden caeses can come from anyplace and agin, if it were a special edition, the case would likely also bave some mention of is uniqueness etched onto it.  Ruger currently offers a nice wooden/glass display case.

It was a blue finish. I didn't see anything special on it, other than "Super Blackhawk" and ".44 magnum", which are magic words which make money come out of my wallet. :>

EDIT: I looked at the display cases on Ruger's site, and they are much less elaborate than the one that comes with the gun. I guess the previous owner just liked his SBH a whole lot.
