I ordered a box of Beartooth 200gr FNGC .358" bullets for my .35 Remington along with a box of 525gr WLNGC .459" bullets in March, they finally shipped yesterday!!  I emailed em last month to see what the hold up was, they replied that they were running behind.....sheesh, what a way to run a business!!

I've noticed the same thing with trying to purchase ammunition off the internet.  They advertise like they've got a whole warehouse full just waiting to be sent out the next day.

In reality the light just changed green at the intersection where the guy running the web site has to stop playing with his lap top.  He now must step on the accelerator while talking on his cell phone trying to locate the ammunition you just ordered off of his web site.  When you confront them they start talking out of both sides of their mouth at the same time and attempt to reverse blame.

I will only order ammunition off of the web as a last resort.  It's too difficult to sift through all the BMW driving con artists and their wireless lap tops.  In the old days we use to refer to it as "operating out of a phone booth".  They don't even have a phone booth anymore.

I've not had any problems ordering anything on the net, and I order thousands of dollars worth a year, probably a lot more than most people, and that includes doing 90% of my Christmas shopping online!!

Beartooth casts their own bullets, so it's probably a small operation....but they need to hire so more help when they're "running behind", as Gayle put it in his reply!!

Look at it this way Tim.  They're behind beacuse it's a great product that everyone wants, but they aren't going to hire more people just to be idle when things get caught up.

You got handcast bullets in May and you should shoot a few so you can order some more to be there by hunting season.  Rome wasn't built in a day . . . and all that type of thing!

Seriously, it does make it hard to plan on what to shoot if it takes a long time to get a sample to work with.  JohnK had sent me a sample of Beartooths, so I knew they would do what I wanted when I made my order.  I had mine in a couple of weeks, but they may have been bullets in less demand than what you ordered.  Come to think of it, most people don't seem to use 250 gr bullets in their .357 Mags, like I do!

Marshall's health is not good lately.  I certainly would not like temps to be casting/sorting/mailing my boolits.  I have decided to order several hundred of the BTB hardcast that I shoot in my .444.  In the mean time I have ordered a mould on a group buy.

Do you really want some dude makin $6 an hour knowin that he may not be there the next day makin your bullets  .  when you hire temps you tend to run into some quality control issues.  Just my .02 cents, I'll butt out now :D

I ran across this today on the BTB site written by MikeG:

Just spoke with Marshall today (3/20/06) and here is the latest -

First of all Marshall wishes everyone well and regrets not being able to spend time on the forums. Unfortunately goofing off doesn't pay the bills  (no gov't. worker jokes here, please).

Bullets: orders are about 6-8 weeks backlogged, as of this writing. Some things may ship sooner, depending on what you order, as he casts in pretty big batches. He expects to be caught up by around the first of May or so.

Historically, the summer months aren't as busy and he would expect there to be little or no backlog for 3 months or so.

Advice: If you want to shoot this summer, get your orders in now. If you want to hunt this fall, don't wait till Sept. 1 to order. Order in early summer, if you can. Not only will this get you your bullets sooner, it will make his life a little easier to not be as backlogged in the fall. Plus he likes have time to hunt too!

I say good cast boolits are worth the wait.

Ordering on-line has been a mixed bag for me.  I like ordering on-line when I get good service.  I ordered a part for my coffee pot ($2.95) on 02/27/06.  When I e-mail them about it I get all kinds of excuses but no coffee pot part as of 05/15/06.  They show it on their web site along with thousands of other items they may or may not have.  I think they think I'll go away.  They don't know me very well yet.  The quality of service you get is directly proportional to the amount of money involved.  These guys are cherry picking.  I can play their game.

I ordered some slugs and buckshot on-line not long ago.  I called their 800 number to confirm what their web site was stating.  The sales rep said   YES we have everything you want and it will ship tomorrow.

One week later nothing.  I called back and got the "it will be shipping tomorrow" line again.  I kindly reminded them they already used that one last week.  One more week later one box of buckshot showed up.  $4.00 for the box of buckshot...$12.00 shipping and handling.  It cost me $16.00 for a box of buckshot.  The shipping & handling was supposed to be for the complete order of several boxes of mixed buckshot and slugs.  I got on the phone right away and the lies continued.  So much for that outfit.  It was almost worth the money to find out how they operate.

I've had more positive experiences than negative ones ordering on-line also but I still get upset when they Turn up the Screw.  I'm not the kind of person to just not say anything.  Some folks mistake this as negative behavior when in reality it's being honest.  Some folks are embarrassed to admit they've been had.  Criminals count on this kind of behavior all the way to the bank.
