Any advantages to fire lapping a rifled shotgun barrel?

I just bought an H & R Ultra Slug Hunter in 12 gauge. Is there any advantage to doing fire lapping to the rifled barrel?

I have fire lapped various rifles and pistols with excellent results. I used LBT lapping compound with soft, oversized cast lead bullets.

It seemed like it would be possible to put the lapping compound on the wad, especially near the base of the wad. It may help reduce fouling from the plastic wads.

I'll be shooting Lee 1 ounce slugs at moderate velocities.

My opinion is that fire-lapping is a thing of the past for almost any normal application with rifles.  The barrels are so good these days from the factory that it's not necessary.  How much better than 1" groups at 100 yards do you really need in a 30 caliber rifle?  Same goes for shotguns, I suppose.
