I have both the Handi 204 and the 24'' Fluted Ultra 204. I put the Choate stock and forend(Same Stock and Forend that comes on the Fluted Ultra)on the Handi and feel both shoot almost the same. I use factory 40 v-max and they shoot very well. Best group has been .75'' and I am sure that could be better with some handloads. I think both of your choices are goods ones, but it depends on what you want? The NEF is nice to carry but still shoots well off bags. The Savage Depending on model is heavy and not real friendly to walk around with. Both are accurate! That is a tough decision. I looked at both the NEF and Savage when I wanted a 204. Don't regret my decision at all.

I have had both in the same cal.  The Handi may be a little lighter, but not much, the receiver part is heavier than a savage action is.  I think that anyone, even on this board, will tell you that your best bet by far for a shooter right out of the box will be a Savage.  Some of the handi's shoot as well as a Savage does, however chances are that you will have to do a lot more fooling around with a Handi to get it to shoot than you will with a Savage.  They are both good rifles, and if I had a little more time to fool with one or felt lucky I would buy another Handi.  Larry

I have both the Savage and Handi. The Savage shot the first Hand loads into 1/4" when I finally got the stock to be stable.(The synthetic stocks are very flexible) I hav'nt got to work with the Handi that much, but sofar the best is 2 1/2". My CZ shoots the same load as the Savage into 1/4" or less also.  Digger

Both of my Fluted shoot less than MOA..........204 is better than my 223 by a hair. My bull barrel 22-250 with the Choate setup is less than MOA too.
