Hello everyone, I have ran out of guns to buy that sparks my interest. I am trying to buy one more but can't find any I like. I am thinking of the 44 mag Desert Eagle. Has anyone shot it and how do you like it? Can you shot 44 special in it and will it chamber? Is it a accurate pistal? Your feld back is greatly needed.

You should be able to pick up a used one cheap. They were popular for a while, then that popularity dropped quickly. It's a very heavy specialty pistol that only shoots full power 44 magnum ammunition and I believe the bullets need to be jacketed.

they droppped due to problems with the recoil system. they bent or broke the recoil rods frequently. I have repaired about 40 , all with the rod problems

It really is a big gun with a big grip, REAL BIG.  I have never shot a 44 version, but have shot a 50AE version quite a bit.  Recoil is mild, accuracy is superb, (At least in this one).  The 50 I shot would stay under 2" at 85 yards with a red dot scope that covered almost 3" at that range.  With a regular crosshair scope, who knows?  Really a "Hey look what I got" gun in my opinion, but thats a plenty good enough reason if you want one!

If you do get one make sure you only shoot jacketed bullets. Cast bullets play havoc with the gas system.

I had a Desert Eagle for a while.
Like the others have said, full power jacketed ammo only.
They are a pain to clean, get unreliable when dirty.
The Mark XIX's are very accurate, the Mark VII's are not (three piece barrels).
I ended up trading it in on a Freedom Arms revolver. Best decision ever.
Get yourself a 6" model 83 .44 mag F/A revolver. THAT will keep you interested.
