I know we have some folks from around NY.
So what do you folks think?
What are the issues?
Would NEW YORK by whatever state it would be called be required to pay off its proportional debt of the present state before it would be allowed to move on?
Would some of the other folks in the state be happy to see the city move on into statehood?
What would Mrs. Clinton do and has she offered opinion?

Personally, I liked the movie idea of just sealing it up and turing the whole thing into an inescapable prison colony.

I miss rural NY. Have grown tired of defending the beauty of the Hudson Valley to folks who have not spent time there. I left as an older father, who wanted to give my wife the opportunity to quit work to be home with my daughters. Tough to do that  in NY, paying for the city.
It's worked out, but folks that think NY is any different from any place else in America, are from my viewpoint fooling themselves.

I don't mean to sound disrespectful so accept my appologies in advance.

New York City is no place this southern boy would ever want to go again......I personally can't think of any place closer to hell for me.........

Upstate.....well....if it wern't for the cold winters.....

I spent a September and October in Kingston.....rented a farm house near Port Ewen not far from the Hudson River............and had one of those dear penthouse experiences.........absolutely the most beautiful fall foliage I've ever seen.......Seems New York has it's fair share of rednecks......I met several at a place called the Hurley mountain inn...........very similar to the Dew Drop Inn Charlie Daniels sings about in the ballad "Uneasy Rider".......

It's a shame you can't cut New York City off and drag it down and tack it onto Miami..........

Haven't seen you post much NY Hunter.....good to see your alive and well.

New York State is absolutely beautiful.  The problem we have is the NYC area, not just NYC as TM7 mentioned, the whole area. It's their extreme liberal mind set that kills us!

I think that NYC would do well to be part of Canada.

I have been to the City twice. The first time on a little excursion of my own years ago. The 2nd time was about 5 weeks before 911. For some reason, we took alot of pictures of the World Trade Center.That time was with my wife & kids to see all of the sites of the city, or most anyway. It was good for them to see it once, but I will never return.

The small amount of Upstate NY I saw is scenic & I have seen a great deal of rural PA. which is very nice also. New Yorkers, being from AR. I can tell you all about sterotypes. Many in the South think of New York only in terms of the city & many folks up North think of us as being Hillbillys, old ideas die hard.  

It is unfortunate that the Urban Libs run the show in New York & PA. One
Democrap Political Analyist described PA. as Philly in the East, Pittsburg to the West & Alabama in the middle. Down here we see the Lib politicians from the Northeast & you can catch yourself thinking the Northeast is just
over the edge & I remind myself of the good folks like many on this forum
whose voices are being drowned out by thr whining Libs.

Think I will go home for a 4 day deer hunt this November. I'll pick up an old rifle from my son's house, and walk up Baity Hill 45 miles north of Manhattan. Yes, centerfire rifles have always been legal. I can view the skyline to the south, as the serpentine Hudson snakes past the Dutch named Dunderburg Mtn. Completely isolated, southern views include, Pa.
and Western New Jersey, where there is a serious bear problem. Directly in front of me are the rolling hills of Connecticut, and northeast same of Ma. Maybe if I'm lucky, I'll get another fine 8 from this spot. The trees will be ablaze in color, as the redtailed hawk, and coopers hawk spar for the next squirrel that makes a mistake.
The following day I may take a break and take the train into Grand Central, and marvel at the Gothic architecture, in the largest room in history. Any number of Italian resturants will have a fresh Veal parmesian meal for under $10 bucks. The museums, the SAFETY!!!, be sad that the Yankee season is over.. Back to Grand Central, some oysters, wine and to see whatever celebs, may be there. Think of the ensuing hunt.
I love my NC transition, but NY is not the sewer that TV viewers assume..
Particularly here in the south. Guess it's ok to miss my Hudson Valley....

Actually she is from IL., but it is a good point anyway. And her business/
political arrangement husband is from AR., but he knew better than to talk gun contol until he was Pres. That's the way it is with Socialist Democraps,

At the cost of adding 2 more anti-gun anti-hunting were the state and know whats you need better than you do - NO THANKS.  Anything we can do to limit the influence of NY is good.  We should Gerrymander to wake NYC part of Maryland and add LA ,San Francisco, Portland and Seattle too - now that would be good!

   I would like to point out an important fact that is barely recognized elsewhere.
 would be gaining a new CONSERVATIVE state..esp where article II is concerned...just look at the red/blue map from 2004 when it is broken down by counties..

   Yes; NY is a blue state..but simply because the big cities out vote the rest of us.
   Take that bunch of libs out of the mix and the rest of the state would be very red indeed...

     That is exactly why I believe the divorce won't happen...if national politicians have anything to say about it...
   There are other states that have groups pushing for separation..Ca and perhaps Wa..

  In every case, if it were to come off, the result would be a new red state, simply because the big cities have more voters than the rural/suburbs..

   I sure would like to see it happen...even if it costs us..

Little late on this one. :D

Born and raised in Boondocks of the Empire State.  Black River valley between Tug Hill and the Adirondacks (Draw an east/west line through Lake Ontario, go 70 miles east).

Mid to late 70's me and my friends lived hunting, fishing, etc.

We'd each take a 22, fish pole, tarp, lard, salt, coffee, sugar, etc. and HIKE to our hearts content, for 2-3weeks at a time, AT 14-15 YEARS OF AGE!!! :grin:  :grin:  :grin:

GREAT place to grow up.

Somehow while I was doing a 21 year Navy hitch some SOB's RUINED it. :evil:  :evil:  :evil:

I am from farm country in Ohio. I married an Italian from Brooklyn. Then after that went bad, a German from Queens, who grew up in Valley Stream. I lived in Ellenville (upstate) and worked in Newburg. I know your pain.........dig a canal and let float away. (They all think the world revolves around them anyway).
