There is currently a lot of interest in the pistol caliber carbines. Both the Kel Tec and the Hi-point are popular and inexpensive. If I had an interest in this type of weapon, I'd favor the Kel Tec with the Glock mag setup. Lots of the 33rd Glock mags available at reasonable prices. Haven't heard of any hi-cap mags for the Hi-Point, but both should be fun plinkers even with 10rd mags.

I wanted one of the Kel-Tecs but I can find no one in my area
who has them. They have no interest in ordering any either?
Do they know something we don't?

Local gunshows in my area usually have at least half a dozen dealers with Kel Tecs or Hi-Point carbines. Do a search for upcomming guns shows in your area. Bet you find one there!
Good Luck!

There are 15 round magazines for the HiPoint carbine around, however reports are they are absolute JUNK.  They are made by ProMag, link is below.

Personally, I would buy the buttstock mag carrier (holds 2 spares) and 2 factory mags.  Thats what I went with, atleast I know they will work.

IMHO these are one of the best bargains available.

New they cost under $170.

They will hit MO beer can at 50yds. with the factory iron sights.

With an OAL of 31" they are 2" shorter then my 16.5" Marlin 1894 LTD.  It is very compact and handy indeed.

The company has a very good customer service program.  I bought my M995 used.  I called Hi- Point and they advised me to ship the rifle back to them so they could check it out before I shot it.  They wanted to make sure it was safe as a precaution for both them and me.  In return they would ship it back with an extra 10 rnd mag. as well as anything else that gets shipped out with a new gun.

They had the gun 5 days and it was on its way back to me.

When I opened the box, there was the rifle, the extra mag, the paper work, a scope mount, sling swivels and a nylon sling, and a hand written list of things they did to the rifle, including: New Stock, firing pin & spring. Buffed Barrel Ramp and New Trigger.

It is always nice to deal with a company that truly takes care of its customers, and stands behind what they sell.  Hi -Point is such a company.
