Plain Jane, common every day Marlin 336 in .30.30 winchester

Yep.. that's my vote, too. I have one that my dad gave me that was made in the '50s and that "old brush gun" it shoots well enough to use to compete in cowboy lever action silhouette matches. :)

Favorite lever gun of all time has to be the M-71 Winchester. Of those I actually own its the M-64 Winchester. For my all round meat and potatoes deer rifle the Savage 99 in 308 Win  gets grabbed most often though. Bobcat

Currently, a Marlin 1894 in .44 Mag. Has the 16 inch ported barrel
made a few years back. Never ceases to amaze me the way it slams
a deer to the ground, without a lot of recoil or muzzle blast.
( Compared to a lot of other things. )
Before that, an original 1886 Winchester in .38-56 with a 26 inch Octagon barrel.
Fired a 5 shot group @ 100 yards with 270 cast bullets that went
into an honest inch once. ( Original open sights )
About fell out of my chair on that one, haha !

I haven't met a M94 or M92 I don't like.  ;D   And I seem to shoot a .357 Trapper the most, but this 16" M92 .44 Special is a close second.

Gee, this is a tough one. I don't have a lever gun that I don't like. I guess I'll have to go with the Winchester 1886 extralight 45-70. It's a modern repo, but is one sweet rifle.

Mine has to be the 35Rem Marlin 336C, great round and if you get close enough will take about anything.  Own three others a 1895 45-70, a .444marlin and a 336 30-30.  The 336's have 20" barrels and the rest have 22" barrels.  Believe this or not the 45-70 is the most accurate of the lever actions, will shoot .750" from the bench, but always seems like an overkill to me.

My favorite lever gun is the old Winchester M94 that was my grandfather's before mine. I am also partial to the way my Uberti 1860 Henry in .45 L.C. handles. That sucker is heavy but man does it shoot!

Marlin Model 375 in, what else, .375 Winchester. Was a gift from my father in law. Great for short range woods hunting.

I like this one alot but it is not my favorite.

It's a Cowboy LTD and my Super Blackhawk both in .44 Magnum.

My favorite is my Marlin 1895 LTD-V. I need to get some good pictures of that...

Favorite levergun:  a 1971 336C .35Rem, its handles so well and its  to light to get really tired after carrying it all day.  Other than big big bear will just about take anything on the NA continent you want to shoot with it.  I usually shoot only 200 and 225gr and never feel undergunned.

Sav. 99, 250-300; Maarlin 1895, .45-70.  Depends upon the size of hole required.  Am hunting for a M99 in .300 to bridge the gap.  I say this even though the safe is bursting at the seams.

I'm going to be wishy-washy on this one.  Have Marlin 94s in 44 & 357, 95 in 45-70, old 39A, 1936 in 30-30, and a Win. 9422M.  Ok, if I have to pick one centerfire the 357, one rimfire the 39A.  But really I like them all.

Old Griz, thanks for the welcome, though I've been a member here since last Sept. I recognize a few here(Hi Val, John, Ken :)) though I'm usually camped out over at www.leverguns.com . Since some of you are posting picts of your favorite leverguns I will post picts of my facorites. Again for pistol length cartridges for me its the Winchester 92 and clones. For rifle length cartridges its the Winchester 86.

Heres my Rossi 92(LSI) chambered in 44MAG. The 92's imported through LSI have that black finish on them. I quickly stripped that finish off, sealed the stock and forearm, and added a nice hand rubbed Tru Oil finish. Basically my standard procedure I do to all the wood on my leverguns.

Here it is again after installing the Williams FP and the Marbles green fiberoptic.

Heres another Rossi 92 imported through LSI chambered in 357MAG that I stripped and refinished(sure glad I did!). I gave this rifle to my dad for his first levergun. Needless to say he's hooked ;D

Heres my newest addition another Rossi 92 imported through EMF chambered in 357MAG. When I got this carbine it was the last that EMF had in stock chambered in 357Mag. I got the last one they had without the bolt saftey. Unfortuanatly all  following shipments will  have the bolt safties on them just like the ones imported through LSI.

This stock did not have that ugly black finish on it but the wood had open grain on it and its in the process of being refinished as I type this.

As you can see I love my 92's! :)

Its a helluva thing killin a man,you take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have

I have a '46 Winchester 71 deluxe that is a definite favorite. Never thought I would own an original. I have a Browning 71 that I also really like.

But nipping at the heals of my 71's are a pair of Marlin 336A's, the early rifle versions, in .35 Remington. I've learned to really love that  configuration and caliber. The 336A in .35 was a favorite of Tom Hayes, a writer from Texas that wrote a couple of books around 1960.

But then I've never met a levergun I didn't like. ;D

Here are my all time - tried and true - favorites.

Winchester M94 30-30

Marlin M94 44 Mag.

Marlin M95 Cowboy 45-70

Marlin M95 Guide (SS) 45-70 ... all time/all around favorite!

Puma M92 .454 casull/.45 LC ... another all time favorite Mulie & javalina getter!

Here's one I forgot - my Spencer Carbine - I haven't tried it as a brush gun yet, but it's VERY accurate (no kidding), and I understand they took LOTS of deer from 1865 ... until the mid-twenties ... when the ammo was getting hard to find! My youngest wants to try it out up in the mountains, on local mulies

My current center fire favorites are:
1. Marlin limited edition stainless 35 remington guide gun (no ports)
2. Marlin 336 straight stock 30-30
3. Marlin 1895 45-70 straight stock

2 and 3 are really a tie but when I bought the guide gun I though I paid way to much for it 500 plus but after using it, it was a bargin, it shoots great, carries better, and will do most anything I need a centerfire rifle will do.  I have other stuff for the longer range hunting that I rarely do.
