New 750 Woodsmaster Problem
« on: May 20, 2006, 12:57:57 PM »
I mounted Millet rings and a scope on my new 750 carefully lapping the rings for proper alignment as is required to avoid damage to the scope. I noticed that when on 1-1/2 X that I could see the front sight thru the scope but it was quite a bit right of the scopes cross hairs. Upon closer examination of the scope and rifle I could see that the scope was at an angle to the receiver in the direction that would put the front sight as it was observed. I had to move the rear rings full left  to the limit of their adjustment range in order make the scope parallel to the receiver. When I did this the front sight was observed dead center. It looks like Remington cannot drill their scope mounting holes properly. Has anyone else had this problem?? Annoying and disappointing!!! I wonder how the gun will shoot!!!!!

If they are not centered you still may not have a problem but you can also give remington a call and set up a replacement rifle you shouldn't have any problems in doing that, you should also talk with the dealer you purchased it from.   Thanks for the heads up though i am picking mine up next saturday i bought one in 35 whelen. This is typical of Remington's quality that I too have experienced.  :(  They produce so many guns, they are not worried about quality anymore.  I would try to get Remington to fix it at one of their repair centers.  There is one in just about every town.  I hope your experience is better than mine with Rem semi autos.  All of the ones I've owned have not been very good.  Good Luck

Rem. autos have put food on the table for gunsmiths for many years.

Concerning the scope mounting holes, I bought a Model 700 in the mid-80's that had the mounting holes way off, you could easily see it. I sent it back to Rem. & they replaced the Receiver, but yes, it is unfortunate.
