An SUV for the WIFE

 I just got laid off. My wife said she'd go to work in a larger town 20 miles away if we got her a SUV to drive in the winter.  She doesn't need a big vehicle to drive back and forth to work in. What could I get her in a used 4x4. I'd have to trade in my 1989 Dodge Shadow. We just get snow and ice here. :jeep:

F350 cew cab diesel!! perfect car for the wife :grin: used ones are a steal around here, as they dont seem to hold resale very well.  

Seriously, she probably wouldnt like that, how about a used toyota 4runner?  Dont hear of to many people that have them that dont like them.  My personal experience with toyota has been great.

We have a 91 Chevy S-10 Blazer that my wife drives. 170,000 miles on it and still going strong.

We also have a Suburban, but my wife doesn't like driving that - she says it's to big.

I to would say an s10 blazer or maybe a jeep Cherokee you really need to ask does she really need the 4x4 SUV or just want one. My job requires me to make it in to work no matter what so a 4x4 is what i need to get to and from work (I am a fire fighter). SUV are expensive to get use lot of gas and the insurance is high, can you afford the money? Even though she is making more money take in to consideration the extra money for car payment insurance and gas so she may really not be "making " as much as she thought she is.
IF she finds she doesn’t need a big SUV look into the hunday (spelling?) they are front wheel drive handle well in the snow, good on gas and a very good warranty. The insurance and car payment are a lot less then an SUV

Don’t mean to get deep in your business but this is something to think about we just went trough this when I got my new truck. I couldn’t get what I want so I had to get the next best thing.

An SUV for the wife... Sounds like a damb good trade to me.  Almost any SUV is better than a wife so don't let the sucker that offered you that deal get away :eek:  :wink:

Seriously, I have had some trucks and suv's. My wifes favorite is out 97 3/4 ton Dodge Ram 360 with the power chip.

I now have a Jeep Wrangle that I drive 20miles to work.

I was working while I was going to college, drove 45miles to school, and worked evenings on the way home at the same place I work now.

The vehicle that got me to and fro in the worst inclement weather that the Black Hills and prarie of South Dakota can offer is a 96 Geo Metro with blizzak snow tires. I crap you not. That little bugger got 45mpg, and I have driven through feet of snow that would make most people cringe,  I hit drifts that would would completely white out the car and kept going. Those tires would keep that little car stuck to the ice in turns.  I think the biggest key to driving a little coffin like that was to just drive like you've got nothing to loose. Your wife won't like the suggestion but run it by her.

I won't be responsible for the bruises you may receive from her though.  :lol:
