Hello all,
Caution: rant coming!!
Last week I was at the Flea market trying to find something I couldn't live without and I found eight one pound cans of Winchester 630 powder, a 54 caliber Hawken barrel, and some other goodies for about $200. :grin:

While I was talking with my usual contact, he told me about what happend to a friend of his in Durango CO. It seems the fellow was selling one of his guns to another private party, and the Police had him staked out.

As soon as he made the sale they closed in, sent for backup, arrested the man, and told him that even though the warrent was bogus that he had to go to Denver and spend $20,000 to prove his inocence in court.

Today I got an e-mail from Senator John McCain:

I come from a family of service; three generations of naval officers. It has been an honor to serve my country and I have the greatest respect for those that have chosen this courageous task. I am also extremely grateful, because these men and women have taken it upon themselves to protect our nation's freedoms.

Rant on:
He might have protected our fredoms in uniform but since he has been in the senate he has been trying to take away our freedoms!!!

I can't remember exactly what I wrote back but I said something like,
Senator McCain said:
I believe in honor, (Puke) faith (Puke) and service (Puke) - to one's country and to mankind. It's a lesson I learned from my family, from the men with whom I served in Vietnam and from my fellow Americans. . .  

He might have served his country in the military but since he has been in the senate he and his buddies have done much to destroy our fredoms.

I wont say treason in his case but with his liberal buddies I would.
If I had my way his liberal buddies would spend the rest of there lives in jail for treason!!!"

Was I too hard on the extreamly liberal republican senator from Arizona?

I respect McCain for his service, but you are exactly right about his Senate record. You were probably too easy on him IMHO.

Actually I think you are being way too nice to the good Senator. Did you see his picture with tough guy, Hairless Reid at the boxing match? What a team!  :twisted:

This same thing happened in the Somerset, Ky are fleamarkets.  I have an uncle that is retired from Ford and does a lot of buying and selling at fleamarkets.  Anyway, this happened to 3-4 of his buddies.  A man approached them, told them that his ex-wife had him set up by accusing him of hitting her, and he lost all of his guns and wanted to buy a cheap deer rifle so he could do some hunting (it was a couple of weeks before the season.)  They sold to him, and wound up with some major charges.  Yes, they were legally wrong to sell, but I think it sucks.  It has ruined their lives.  This man did approach my uncle with the story, and he told him he will be happy to help him if he wins his case.  Close one!

I suppose this is the result of the so-called "loophole" in current anti-gun legislation? Is someone seriously suggesting that private sales in Somerset Kentucky are supplying gangs in New York and L.A. with blackmarket weapons?

When was the last time you saw these guys stake out in the middle of a gang-infested neighborhood and do this type of bust? I'm still waiting to read the story off the AP wire, but apparently, it won't be forthcoming.

EDIT: And to clarify, I know the truth my question. No one wants to go into a gang-infested neighborhood and be outnumbered 100-to-1 by those goblins. However, we're not the violent criminals in those neighborhoods. Important distinction that should continually be pointed out.

Is it some kimd of state thing not being able to sell to private owners??
Last I heard here in Michigan, you can sell rifles and shotguns privately, they don't need to be registered either. Different from a dealer with federal firearms license tough
Hanguns here can be sold to private people if they have a permit to purchase or a CCW license.

If they changed the law, I'm not aware of it...sold a 30.06 rifle to guy a month ago. And the news paper here is full of guns for sale.

Just wondring if it's a state thing thing about private sales.
Or if the feds have their hand in the pot everywhere.

It can be a state, county or town thing, depending on what the civil-rights-violators want. ::) Private sales are still legal in CT, as far as I know, but I prefer using a dealer.
