They should reintroduce bears everywhere in southern Ontario so that the anti bear hunting public can enjoy them in their backyards!  We have  cougars, turkey and ..why not bears?
Tomorrow is another day!

I was driving down Dahl Drive in Whitecourt last week and there was a 5' black bear feeding in the patch of timber right along side the road and this is right in the middle of town. Moose, whitetail & mule deer and black bears live in the town pretty much year round, 'cept maybe the bears.
I have not heard of a grizzly ever being sighted in town but I suppose it has to have happened...

On the local golf course, also in town and only 1/3 mile from my house, black bears are seen ocassionally. The Athabasca R. flows through town and the game follows the river, plus there is forest all through town. It is the Alberta foothills after all.

A few years ago we saw a sow with 3 cubs on and off over the course of a week before they wandered off into the wilderness.

Gotta love it.
