12 g Survivor - OK for steel shot? Fully choked.
« on: May 29, 2006, 10:28:35 PM »
Hi

I have been offered a 12 g Survivor that is about 3 years old. Does anyone know if they are steel shot compatible? In New Zealand they have banned lead shot.

It is also described as "fully choked" - I am new to shotguns, so does this mean it is next to useless for duck shooting because it is very tightly choked?

It is a 3 inch magnum. Can you use smaller sized cartridges in it?

If it's only three years old it should be just fine with steel

I don't know, that statement is not very clear, best to ask the current owner.

Steel should be no problem. I'm surprised that it's a survivor model with a full choke. I have one and have only seen 22"modified choke barrels on survivors.
PROUD REDNECK CONSERVATIVE

I'd much rather be remembered for being a great shot than having the most expensive gun
