Why does this forum have so many more posts than all of the others on GBO? I just now noticed this...

not only is this the best forum but it's members are also an outstanding group of guys, and from all over the world I might add. It also has at it's core these fine little rifles which are fun, light, accurate, and affordable....<><....

Graybead and MSP just happened to point that out about a year ago when our forum overtook the leader in post and view count.

I'm a softie and all, but here is my take on it.  Nowhere else (other forums) do people respond positively and with a genuine interest in helping like they do here.  It is a classy bunch really.  No slamming people for a FAQ (but it is tempting) or making fun of a mistake.  Most of my handloading questions get answered here too.  I dig it.

I have a feeling it has to do with the do-it-yourself nature of the rifles. They all need a little massaging, and they are cheap enough people aren't afraid to work on them.  I'd bet most mid-range rifles get out of the closet once a year during hunting season and then go back in again.

Newbies can, and do, ask questions that have been asked before and receive a civilized response, whether it be detailed or direction to the FAQ's.

The knowledge of many of the members is vast and often compliments each other.

Reading the posts and responses is like sitting around a camp fire, even if we are world-wide.

The enthusiasm with these rifles is contagious. Which, at least in my case, has resulted in the purchase of more of them than I care to admit.  (I wonder if NEF realizes this? Hmm?).

And ...

To add to what MSP mentioned, there are lots of real good folks here.

Thanks

I guess I can't really add much more than has already been stated. It's a great place to talk about something we all have in common. It's hard to explain to someone that doesn't have a Handi or visit here,  the attraction of these rifles-or should I say addiction? :) And it's a welcome meeting place to hang out.
Great site, good people, and lots of info :toast:

I developed a strong fascination for the H&R single shots years ago. Expressing my love of them in the shooting circles available to me was usually met with questions ("HUH?"  :? ) or derision ("HA!"   )

I knew some people SOMEWHERE had to perceive the values embodied in these arms as I do...  :(

And finally I found it! Graybeard Outdoors Forum!    :D

Interesting....

Just to say how I started posting here - I was on an "off topic" section of an airgun forum a few months ago and someone asked a question about a Handi. I knew there was a forum somewhere, so I did a search and found this one (I knew had seen it before somewhere) and directed the poster here. Then I (Literally) dusted off one of my old and long unused Topper 12 ga shotguns and got to thinking about old times with them.

Long story short - The Topper is now being transformed into a 357 Max rifle and I've bought a new .223 and 17 HMR too.

Still seems strange to me that these cheapie guns would develop such a large following when there are so many other nice guns out there to talk about and fiddle with.

None quite like the Handi-rifles though...

Nope Fred, no improvement really. I've had tens of thousands of dollars worth of tests run and so far the doctors don't seem to have a clue what IS wrong with me but they've told me a lot that isn't wrong with me. They assure me my heart and lungs are fine. Still I have a terrible shortness of breath and most any little activity just gets me all out of breath. The last heart doctor told me I need to look at taking care of my sleep apnea and he thinks that will take care of the shortness of breath. Sounds kinda far fetched but then nothing any of them have come up with so far seems any more plausible.

I suggested it since I was told that as a child I had it. But many tests run have ruled out any possibility of it so say the doctors. My symptoms to me at least indicate I do have. BUT I got my GP to treat me for it for several months with ZERO improvement so I guess I have to agree with the doctors that's not the problem. What is tho is a mystery.

Today I shot skeet and a few times just walking from one skeet station to the next had me huffing and puffing and I had to breath deeply a bit before I could shoot. I like to be last on a squad so I have the maximum time before I have to shoot after walking but I was second on that squad, in fact on both today.
