Interarms Virginian Dragoon ??
« on: June 02, 2006, 04:39:10 AM »
I have a stupid question about this gun I am looking at.  What exactly is a "dragoon"?  The price is right on this gun.  It is a Yorktown? model 44 mag.  Seems to be a copy of a Ruger maybe?
Thanks

Jeff

Big enough to slay a Dragon  :-D   :-D    :-D  Here is mine. 'WE THE PEOPLE" The 'SWISS SAFTEY" is a deaw back, and WILL go on safe under recoil.    They ARE however built like tanks. I passed on one in 22LR once. Been sorry ever since. THey have twice the amount of steel as a Ruger. Or so it seems. :) This was my first 44 Mag. :)

:cb2: HOWDY ! I HAVE ONE IN STAINLESS 7 1/2 INCH  44MAG.  YEA, MAN HEAVY METAL ... LOVE IT . LEATHER IS NOT A PROBLEM (EXCEPT $ ) BUT WHERE DO YOU FIND ANY OTHER GRIPS FOR IT ??? I WOULD BUY ANOTHER IN A HEART BEAT..PRICE IS GOOD(MINE 2ND HAND) SOLID AS A ROCK . NO COMPLAINTS HERE.
I HAVE BEEN TOO BUSY TO RELOAD FOR THE PAST SEVERAL YEARS BUT I AM GEARING UP TO START AGAIN . ANY GOOD DATA TO PASS ALONG ? SEEMS LIKE H-110 (OR SURPLUS) IS A FAVORITE . I FOUND A FELLOW IN TEXAS THAT MAKES PRETTY BULLETS , HARD TOO. I FAVOR A 240 GR KEITH SWC. HOW ABOUT YOU ???

:cb2: HOWDY AGAIN...IF YOU READ MUCH (I DO) THE RESOUNDING ANSWER FOR THE 44 IS MUCH SLOWER THAN UNIQUE (WHICH WILL WORK AND IS GOOD STUFF )AND ONE OF THOSE THAT QUALIFIED IS H-110 . IF YOU ARE VERY CONSERTIVE AND HAVE ENOUGH GREEN$ THEN BY ALL MEANS USE THE FACTORY STUFF . THE PULL DOWN POWDER FROM THE M-1 CARBINE IS ROUGHLY THE EQUEVELENT AND GOES FOR ABOUT $60.00/ 8 lb. NORMALLY A GOOD LOAD OF SUCH IS SOMETHING OVER 20 GR. FOR 240 GRAINERS.
A COPY OF KEN WATERS 'PET LOADS' IS USUALLY A GOOD REFERANCE SO THAT YOU DO NOT HAVE TO 'RE-INVENT' THE WHEEL . HE IS NOT THE ONLY ANSWER BUT HIS WORK IS THOROUGH...
keep your powder dry.
