Just received my new 883.. yes 883.. a leftover.. anyways. Took it out just a couple hours later.. didn;t have a scope for it yet so I shot it open sights at twenty five yards from a Caldwell Lead sled.. rest.. Holy tomolie.. It took just a bit to get use to the new trigger. and was printing a nice tight cluster , nickle size. I used a paper plate with a traced outline in the center about 2 inches and the front bead fit nicely into it at this range. the groups were all just about a half inch to the left and a half inch high. But what a group. Even after the first shot after the cleaning cycle it was just a bit high and the second shot settled nicely into the group. I was concerned at first as I could not find some of my bullet holes, so I set up multiple targets and proved to myself they were not bad shots but going undetectable into the groubs. Wow.. So I snatched my Leupold Varix 2 2-7 off my browning acera hunting rifle and mounted it on the Marlin. Now it is raining hard so it will have to waite.. nice little gun.. Can't waite to open the distance.. I can't beleive I waited to 40 years old to get a 22 mag.
