If you're good with a dremel or file, you can cut more slots in the #82, but the biggest headache is the flat spot on the rear of the rail that puts the rear ring forward equal to the second slot position on the H&R.
I've cut the flat spot off and then drilled and counter drilled 2 new holes in the #82 to make it a clone(sorta!) of the H&R rail, but it's not a piece of cake, getting the holes drilled to line up with the mounting holes is hard without a machine shop at your disposal. I used a drill press, used an H&R rail for a template for hole location, have made 2 of em when in a pinch for a rail.
