140gr Rem core lokt.  It'll kill any deer walking. You don't need a magic bullet to kill a deer.  All you need is enough practice to put the bullet where it needs to go.  If you can't do that, you can't pay enough for  a bullet to compensate.

If you're in a position to obtain ammo that cheap & accurate then that's great.
Unfortunately, here in Australia the cheapest ammo you'd get would be at least $20 per 20 rounds and with more performance, big flexibility in projectiles and considerable savings most regular shooters with a 6.5x55 handload.
Privi Partizan is probably in the realms of $75 to $80 per 100 if you get a good deal when they're available but as it's also the most anaemic load out there you'd probably only go in for a deal like that once in order to build up brass.
I think some of the most interesting bullets on offer are the 140gn and 160gn Woodleigh Protected Point bullets, similar to Mag Tips, but no one factory loads these, mores the pity.

Well, it's hardly a 300 yard recipe, but yesterday's pre-season sight check with my 1916 vintage '94 Mauser showcased one of the 6.5X55's most endearing qualities (accuracy).  I shot three times @ 100yds.  The group measured 11/16" center to center, about 2" above the point of aim.  I'm guessing that makes the point blank range somewhere around 225 yards.  The bullet:  Hornady's 160 gr. round nose.  Around my neck of the woods, most shots are (way) inside 100 yards.  Whitetails, look out!

I used 140gr Sierra's in my 96 (loaded to 2550) and I had no problem with impala.
I now changed to 140gr Rhinos for a planned kudu hunt.
