got my 243
« on: June 05, 2006, 08:27:19 AM »
Hey guys a few days ago i was here asking about a remington 243. Well i went and bought it this past weekend. Its a youth model 700 with a 20 inch barrel. I also got a Nikon prostaff scope to go along with the gun. I really like the gun and have only tried one ammo with less than impressive results. The winchestetr 100grn PP shot a 2-2.5 inch group at ~ 100 yds. So my two questions go like this do the Remington Silver Tips mess your barrel up(rumor ive heard about the black coating) and is it better to work the factory trigger or purchase a aftermarket one? Thanks in advance for the help.

I have a Tika T3 hunter with a Weaver Grandslam 3-9x40 that shoots under an inch at 100 yards with Winchester Supream balistic tips 95 grain I belive .It shot so good with this ammo thats all I use ,got about 80 rounds through it and no problems .I have shot 3 coyotes with it (at just over 100 yards)and they were dead as hell when I walked up to them .now Im an old man and I walk nice and slow in this heat but I belive they were instantly killed (didn't see any movement ) so no complaints here . I'll see how  the deer and antilope like it this season . :-D
