PPB w/mic-grv 336 30-30

I'm interested in PPB for my rifle.
My Questions :
Do you measure lands & grooves on mic grv rifling?

Do I need tapered lead bullets to get the patch into the rifling w/o damage? Are moulds / swages available for tapered pills?

Just how do you crimp for a tubular mag w/o tearing the patch?

My 30-30 has a mic grv barrel.  Just trying to figure where to start!

Thanks for reading this.

I've patched for my buddy's Guide Gun and di it without a tapered bullet.  I carried the patch over the ogive so that when it dried and shrunk it was tight around the bullet.  Never had trouble with patches tearing when loading through the gate.

Castaway:  Very interesting post.  Did you chronograph any of your loads?  What were they anway?  Cast?  Jacketed?  How did they work?

What was your purpose in doing so?

Never put them over a crony that I can remember.  I do know it was over a generous dose of 3031 which gives 1835 f/s with a Remington 405 grain JSP bullet.  For patching the GG I used the Lee 405 grain RNFP, cast very soft, about 1:30.  Stopped patching for my buddy's GG several years ago.  He liked the convenience of the JSP.
