I've been shooting the crap out of mine for a couple of months and had no problems what so ever.
Been using 260 and 270 bullets with unique,w231 and hs-6.
At 25 yards the unique and 231 loads are dead on,the hs-6 loads are 2" low.I
thanks,craig.

Just sent one new out the box back to Ruger.  It took 3-5 pulls of the hammer to get it to cock.  Once it cocked it would dry fire fine, then 3-5 pulls on the hammer to cock it.  I have a bunch of Rugers and love them but I am still trying to figure why that one every left the factory.  It sure is upsetting to open a brand new gun that you have been waiting quite a while on and have it not even function.  I have heard of several others and just wondered if it was factory quality control.

There were reports of the firing pin sticking on some of the early manufacture dates. Others have reported that the transfer bar shows evidence of hand grinding on some which might lead one to believe that the parts as originally cast might have been out of specifications.

People I know who are shooting these (New Vaquero and New Blackhawk) are satisfied with them and have not had many problems.

I have gotten 3 bad Rugers in a row.  A 10-22, which they fixed OK.(New Gun!)  A Single Six Bisley that came back worse than when I sent it out,(New Gun!), a Mark II bull barrel, (New Gun!), the Mark II I sent back with a nasty letter, which isn't like me, but after the Single Six, I was pretty peeved.  The Mark II came back great, no problems.  I am not picking just on Ruger, I have gotten lemon Springfields, Winchesters, and Marlins in the past few years.  How come they seemed to be able to put together guns 100 years ago that worked fine?

I have yet to lay eyes on one around these parts.
Had some near misses at the gunshows where a dealer did have one but had it go quickly.

The shop that I purchase supply's from know what my question will be when I walk through the door. No New Vaquero's, They Have Trouble, There Is Jobs On The Line, You Would Think They Would Send Us One For Display, Yadda Yadda.

I take this with a grain of salt but have to admit they are scarce around here.
Will I purchase one? You Bet

I will report back when I hear from my Ruger.  It really gets to me as I bought the gun on auction new in the box.  I then asked the dealer if all was ok and was assured it had never been turned.  I then paid shipping and paid a dealer here to recieve it and do the paperwork.  All this and unwrap a brand new gun, take out the plastic cylinder guard and it will not work.  I just recently bought a new in the box old model ruger that works great it just won't shoot for sh**t.  A friend checked the cylinder throats and they are way undersize and their are 4 sizes in one cylinder.  I have not yet called Ruger to see if they will do anything about that.  I have always been a ruger fan but right now I do not feel like I want another new one.

Ruger was delivered back to me today.  No explanation of problem just a ticket that said "repair, base pin replaced".  Seems to function fine now.  Quite a bit of creep in trigger.  It will be several weeks before I get to go test fire it.   :D

I was suprised that none of us thought about that base pin.
We usually find out quickly early on via some tinkering, cleaning/lubing
Situations where you install the cylinder but plan on pulling it that the Base
Pin has to be fully engaged or the thing just wont cock.

You don't suppose that they neglected this point with the new gun
And blamed it on a defective part do you. :?
Like yourself, I am wondering how they even test fired or "proofed" the thing. Did the face of the cylinder show that it had been fired?

Glad you have it back and hope that you find you have a "shooter" in hand. :D

It did not appear to be fired but it could have been cleaned.  It smelled of powder this time.
