Well after years of coveting a 6mm TCU I finally have one. I made my own fore-end out of Ziricote, a very heavy and hard African species. The photos don't do the grain pattern justice. I fabbed my own hanger bar which I glass bedded into the fore-end. I have some Ziricote left so I may make a grip. The scope is a Simmpons 2.5-7 on a TC quick release base, kind of a cool design, but I am a bit skeptical of how well it will hold zero, and if it will retrun to zero if removed. Any comments on this mount are welcome. As you can see the fore-end is free floated by about 1/8" with vent holes with intersect the barrel inlet. I realize they don't really help cooling all that much, especially with that much free float, but I think they look cool. They also serve to lighten the fore-end. This is a pretty heavy rig, so shooting from a rest, shooting sticks, or a bipod is almost mandatory. I am debating the installation of a sling swivel stud for my Harris, not sure yet, tho. I went out shooting yesterday, to try to zero in the scope, but it has been VERY windy here all winter and yesterday was no different. As a result I have the point of aim kinda zeroed in, but I will have to wait for a calmer day. I think this will make an outstanding praire dog and coyote getter. Feel free to make any comments or suggestions. For a total investment of about $15 for the fore-end and hangar bar supplies I am pretty pleased.
