4 inch Vs. 5 inch barrel kick and controlability?
« on: June 09, 2006, 04:50:35 PM »
Considering buyinig a Kimber CDP PRO II with 4 INCH barrel in .45.  While I shoot a Springfield .45 with 5 inch barrel, I've never shot a 4 inch .45.

For those of you that have shot both 4" and 5" 1911 versions weight being equal - Is there much difference in kick and controlability?

Thanks.

no there easy to shoot. WIth the alloy grip frame its going to be a tad lighter and have a tad more recoil but not enough to consern yourself with. YOur going to love that cdp. Kimber cdps are in my opionion one of the best out of the box 1911s on the market.

hawkeye - gonna go with Lloyd on this one.  I have a full size Springer and an older Colt lightweight Commander (4").  Side by side the weight difference is noticeable but when in use the recoil really isn't.

If you want to stand there and take a target hold and all that, you will notice the difference.  But in more realistic practice, when you pull down on the target you really don't feel the difference at all.

Some folk, me included, trick out the pistol with a set of heavier springs from Wolff Springs in Pa.  Both my 45s carry a 22 lb recoil spring kit, and it helps.  JMHO.  Mikey.

I'm glad to hear positive reviews of the Kimber Pro CDP II...This is the gun that I am going to buy in the near future...I love the matte black anodized aluminum/stainless steel look..I have other handguns but no 1911's...I'm going to treat myself with this one...No cheapos this time out...
