Federal Fusion ammo

Anybody here use Federal Fusion ammo to take black bear, hogs, or elk?  If so, how was the performance?  If its accurate, in my son's ultra, I am thinking about having him use it on our Idaho bear hunt this fall.

I know you wanted experience with the bear, hog, and elk, but my only experience is with whitetail. I took 5 whitetail last year and the Fusion did its job well. This round just takes the life out of the animal. I was very impressed and will be using it again this year. They also grouped under an inch in my .243 Handi. I think you will be very pleased with their performance on any animal suited for the right cailber that the Fusion offers.

I think Mad Dog got his answer at AR in a report by JJHack on his experience with Fusion ammo in Africa on 6 animals, it isn't very encouraging for animals larger than deer. The rifle was a 23" barreled .30-06 model 70,

The Federal Fusion Bullets: Underpowered for bigger game. The lack of velocity and the unpredictable bullet shapes left me unimpressed. Although they held together they under penetrated and fell short of my desired performance hopes. ItÂ’s an excellent inexpensive deer and smaller big game bullet but does not have the kind of killing power I expect with a 30/06 using other loads and bullets. A good choice for deer, impala, blesbok, but I would not likely choose them for anything bigger or even on the tough little warthog. I stopped using this bullet for further shooting on game based on the early limited performance on the recovered game and bullets. With the shallow penetration and oddly shaped mushrooms I was not confident to shoot game as tough as wildebeest, gemsbok and zebra with these bullets.

Yeah i see that well whitetail deer is about the biggest animal im going to hunt with mine but i don't see why they wouldn't kill a wild hog though.

I recall reading that also, that they intended it mainly for deer.
I just checked the Federal Ammo website.
They have a new chart section for their ammo.
Oddly, the Fusion loads were not shown for the .30-06.

JJHack never stated bullet weight on the Fusion ammo, here's the Fusion ballistics web site..

I shot a cow elk last year using a 150gr. bullet in a .270. I used a second shot, but the first shot would have sealed the deal. I believe in shooting until you watch them drop. It did what I wanted it to do and was cheaper than buying partions and shot just as good.
