In your opinion, which of these is the best scope, and which would be the best choice for my new Marlin 336 XLR .30-30? They are comparably priced and would be in the 3x9 power range. Also, how does the Weaver compare to the Bushnell Trophy?

You have them listed in the correct order in my opinion but 3-9 is really more scope than a .30-30 needs. I'd consider a 2-7 max and even better really is a scope of 1.5-5 range. Most use of a .30-30 is going to be inside 100-150 yards. More FOV rather than more magnification is what's needed most.

I agree with Graybeard except I like the Buckmaster a little better than my 3200.............only Weaver I have ia a K6 which is an excellent scope. Also a lower power scope for the 30-30 like Graybeard suggested..........poncaguy

O.K. you've talked me into it. I think I will try a 2.5x7x32 Sightron II. How does this sound? Thanks for the help!

The SII is an excellent scope! I have two of them, a 6x HBR and a 4-16x42. In my experience, they are a little clearer than Buckmasters, and are close to the Monarchs.
